Pay Per Player Better Option for Legalized Online Gambling

Nothing seems to be happening with the legalization of internet sports gambling in the United States, , although states that are suffering economic crisis are certainly the most interested. In fact, so far most states have agreed that online gambling of poker or casino games will be acceptable, but as of yet, no state has agreed on sports wagering.

Senator of California, Rod Wright, had announced a bill trying to legalized online poker, but he said recently that he will address some of the concerns raised by opponents before continuing .

The Inglewood Democrat said during a meeting of the Senate Governmental Organization Committee, “that this bill needs a great deal of work.” Where the bill was scheduled to come up for a vote. “For every issue, there were people who liked it and people who hated it.”

Wright believes online poker could generate as much as $2.1 billion annually for the state, since more than 1 million Californians play currently online poker, as per recent analysis.

The Poker Players’ Alliance said in its formal opposition to the bill. “Criminalizing harmless recreational conduct that typically takes place in the privacy of one’s home and cannot be practically enforced undermines public respect for all laws,”

Wright will continue to try to push the bill despite the opposition. Wright said. “The longer we wait, the more difficult it will become to get that business back to the state as different outlets of gambling become available and more entrenched.”
