Online Gambling Debate Still Alive
USA online casino’s would greatly benefit from the legalization of Internet gambling, as the market and industry would likely see a noticeable boom in revenue stream.
People who want to legalize online poker in the United States think they should be able to choose how they spend their time and money. They are more concerned with personal liberty than anything else. Online poker could become legal for the first time in several years, for all United States players.
The topic has been discussed and debated for the last week at the United States House Ways and Means Committee. Discussing a bill relating to the taxation of online gambling .
Rep. Jim McDermott who introduced the bill to the floor , has remarked that prohibition hasn’t prevented millions of Americans who want to gamble online from doing it,” “It has forced Internet gambling operators to work offshore, and has put players at risk, and the revenue of billions of dollars go to other nations”.
McDermott estimates a $42 billion over the next 10 years in form of tax benefits from the proposed bill. Online Poker enthusiasts welcome the notion that the game could be legalized, and players can play on their own free will.
However those against the legislation do not believe this to be a smart move. Rep. Bob Goodlatte of Virginia has stated “It is unfathomable that Congress would consider legalizing a currently illegal activity that imposes harm on the most vulnerable members of our society just to raise money for more big government spending,”
